Looking for a Language Study Buddy in ChatGPT-3

Image
So I decided to try ChatGPT! ChatGPT has been making quite the buzz lately. Functionality-wise, it is Aladdin [1] that appears at the controls of your machine. If you have been in the loop of recent developments, ChatGPT has left impressions of future chatbots and personal assistants. So far, people have used ChatGPT to create games, do assignments, do software programming and so much more. In this blog, I shall talk about how ChatGPT could support a language learner, more specifically, as a study buddy. Image generated using DALL-E Testing Looking for resources on search engines can be overwhelming. Instead of having to hop around websites to find quizzes and resources to test on a topic of choice at the appropriate level, ChatGPT provides you with a set of questions in your desired question type, level and topic. Even better, you do not have to check your answers after attempting the questions. ChatGPT will do it for you. Looking for language resources online vs ChatGPT, a workflow ...

My experience at Karls Winter Academy 2022

Image
At a winter school that I participated in this month, I met people from different parts of the world, each with a challenge that they wanted to tackle, and a cause worth fighting for. All of us had something in common: we wanted to embrace diversity and tackle the challenges that surrounded it. We were interested in contributing to a more equitable world and wanted to tackle challenges surrounding race, gender, social status, wealth and beyond. During our three weeks together at the winter school, we learnt how inequality was caused and its impact on communities across the world. Then, we brought our own communities into context as we worked on a project that would contribute to the efforts made to solve the problem. In addition to learning about inequality, we also received training on Project Management - which supercharged our ideas into actionable projects. My project was about including more women to STEM discussions. I came up with a project to organise a series of hands-on works...

The Dream Catcher

Image
I wrote this poem on April 7, 2020. I had written about what a day in the life of a Dream Catcher would look like if there existed one. This poem has not been majorly edited since it was written in April 2020 (only grammar was fixed). More than two years later, I still see the relevance of this poem and thought I should publish it on my blog.                                                                                               The Dream Catcher Anneysha Sarkar  When the world rests, I rise from my slumber. A sack supported by my back, The deserted streets - I wander. I am no one unusual, but only a bit strange; My abode is amongst the wilderness, In the deepest woods of the vastest mounta...

Summers At My Grandparents’

Image
This colour palette tries to capture those emotions. I looked forward to visiting my grandparents the most every summer break. When I reminisce those visually blurry memories, I remember following him everywhere - grocery, milk booth, post office, park, vegetable market and bank - while he tried to teach me as much math as he could by associating numbers with daily life. He wore white pyjamas and now even after he has got more colourful pyjamas, I distinctly remember the white ones. Summer at my grandparents’ also meant peak fruit season. One of my favourite fruits in our orchard is the Himsagar mango . The pulp of the mango was a dark, vermillion orange. Every morning I would run downstairs to collect any mangoes that might have fallen off the trees, which we enjoyed together. In addition to delicious mangoes, my grandmother cooked me yummy sunny-side-up eggs every morning. She is such a chef! Finally, one of my best memories is my grandfather letting me scribble math equations (back...

Coming Soon: Analyses made on Melbourne Housing

For the past few days, I have spent most of my time on Datacamp courses. Upon waking up: I Datacamp, during the day: I Datacamp, before going to bed: I Datacamp.  While it is pretty cool that I am so serious about self-learning Data Science, I'm actually super concerned that this is actually my way of escaping the massive pile of assignments, lectures and an interview tomorrow that I need to prepare for (also a math competition that I haven't started preparing for, yet! :() Nevertheless, I just wanted to post a quick (my first!) update that I will soon post the analyses that I make here. The data sciency stuff will go to kaggle or github (or both, probably) and I will make a separate post on here about some interesting findings that I make along the way. Didn't bother editing because it's just an update post. My essays/ articles will be more structured/ formal though. For mini posts like this, it's enough as long as it's written in coherent English. A question I...
